2024 Volkswagen ID.4 Unveils Key Upgrades, Boosts Performance and Tech

The 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 is slated for significant improvements, particularly focusing on models equipped with an 82 kWh battery. Manufactured in Volkswagen’s Chattanooga factory in the United States, the vehicle continues its commitment to localized production, right here, in North America.

Central to these enhancements is a newly introduced performance drive unit. This updated system raises the vehicle's horsepower while also promising an increase in range. Specifically, the rear-wheel-drive version is set to deliver 282 horsepower, and the all-wheel-drive configuration is expected to offer around 330 horsepower. Though NRCan-estimated ranges are not yet available, an uptick compared to previous iterations is expected.

In terms of technology, Volkswagen has stepped up its game by replacing the existing 12-inch infotainment display in the 82 kWh models with a larger 12.9-inch display. This new unit features backlit sliders and introduces a reconfigured climate control interface as well as a restructured infotainment menu. These updates aim to streamline the user interface and enhance the overall driving experience.

With these targeted upgrades to the 82 kWh models—be it in horsepower, expected range, or advanced technology—the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4 is shaping up to continue and be a formidable player in the electric compact SUV market.
